Fruit Set and Bunch Component Comparison of Suratthani 2 (ST2) from 4 Growing Stages
Abstract
Palm oil is an important economic crop of the country. At present, there is a need for palm oil for both food and beverage. And more energy as a result, planting areas have been expanded to other areas besides the southern region, in many areas having problems with low oil yields. Hence, development has to be developed in order to increase the crude oil content per bunch. This research aims to study Compare the yield composition of oil palm under different spacing. The varieties used to compare are Suratthani 2 Randomized Complete Block Design: 4 repetitions of RCBD, 4 plant spacing: 1) Spacing 8x8x8 m. 2) Spacing 9x9x9 m. 3) Spacing 11x11x10 m. and 4) spacing 13x11x11 m. Recorded data of all 10 bunches elements: mean fruit weight, fruit per fresh palm bunch per bunch. Dried palm pulp per fruit Dried palm pulp Oil to fresh palm pulp Oil to palm pulp, oil on fruit and oil per bunch. The results of the study showed that growing under different spacing had an effect on oil content. The highest oil yield term is 9x9x9 m, which is 22.26 and 29.56, 8x8x8 m is 24.18 and 13.28, 13 x11x11 m is 24.91 and 14.61, 11x10x10 m. were equal to 20.89 and 12.30 respectively, the difference was statistically significant. Hence, it is highly probable to select the spacing with the highest oil yield per bunch.
