Abstract

This study examined the watering frequency on the growth and dry matter yield of Dwarf Napier grass. (Pennisetum purpureum) in the aspect of forage. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications. The factors studied were the frequency of watering every one, three, and five days, and the harvest was conducted at 30 days after the first cut to begin the experiment. The results showed that Dwarf Napier grass that was watered every day had the highest average height. (p<0.05) at 38.84 cm. and the grass that was watered every five days had the lowest mean height (p <0.05) at 15.17 cm. For the number of shoots per clump, it was found that Dwarf Napier grass with daily watering had the highest number of shoots per clump (p <0.05) at 47.33 shoots, while the grass that was irrigated every three and five days resulted in the number of shoots per clump at 22.00 shoots and 13.33 shoots, respectively. In terms of dry matter yield, it was found that the frequency of watering every day gave the highest dry weight yield (p <0.05) at 72.00 g per pot, while watering every five days gave the lowest dry weight yield (p <0.05) at 11.33 g per pot.
