Abstract

Catimor coffee variety is arabica coffee type (Coffea arabica L.). Its outstanding characteristics are high resistance of rust and yield. Coffee plant propagation was used by sexual propagation. Planting by seeds might be genetic variation, if parental line is not pure line. When researching the history of the Catimor breed, it was found that 7 times were selfed. Thus, the coffee plants may have genetic variation. Therefore, the objective of this experiment to investigate the differences in agronomic traits of coffee plants grown with seeds of the Catimor variety. Three-year-old of coffee plant was collected data. The coffee plants were grown at Phu Thap Boek, Phetchabun Research Station, Faculty of Agriculture, Kasetsart University. The important of agronomic traits were recorded. The 18 coffee plants were selected from a total of 300 coffee plants. Data were collected 2 times, different time at 5 month. Survey found that the plant height of all 18 coffee plants was different varies from 103 cm. to 185 cm. The number of primary branches was different from 25 to 54 branches. Number of bud nodes of main stem ware different from 5 nodes to 15 nodes. As the second data collection, there were a tendency to increase in all traits but the rate of increase was different. It showed that all 18 selected coffee plants were growth at different rates. Thus, this information will be used to select good coffee plants.
