Abstract

Hemp is a new economic crop that has the potential to be used in industries, especially for medicine, cosmeceuticals, and healthy foods. However, to drive hemp towards specific uses, more suitable varieties for each issue still need to be available. Therefore, improving hemp varieties to have specific yielding characteristics is essential to drive the industrial sectors in the future. The research project collected hemp landraces in the northern region to select hemp with high seed yield potential. The 26 hemp landraces were evaluated for yield potential at Muang District, Mae Hong Son Province, comparing them with RPF1 and RPF2 hemp varieties, conducted by augmented in RCBC with three replications. The results showed that height, inflorescence length, number of branches/plants, yield/plant, middle trunk diameter, and tip trunk diameter were not statistically different. There was a statistical difference in the trunk base diameter between the KU049-1-Orange and the checked varieties. Therefore, all 26 hemp landraces have the potential for high seed yield production. The KU049-1-Orange has the potential to produce high seeds, and it has advantages over comparable varieties for biomass yield production, such as farmers being able to generate more income per area from the biomass.
