Abstract

Plant cell and tissue culture is the cultivation of plant tissues in a sterile medium under controlled light and temperature. The objective of this study was to characterize the morphology of CMD-resistant cassava hybrids propagated under in vitro system. The experimental design was RCBD in four replications. Tissue culture-derived seedlings and Huay bong 90 cuttings were planted in the early rainy season in Dan Khun Thot district, Nakhon Ratchasima province. Plant height, plant width, leaf number, and petiole color of cassava were recorded at 4 to 8 months after planting. It was found that tissue culture plants from 4 lines (CR 13-8, CR 52A, CR27-20, CR24-16) showed no variation in petiole color. Huay bong 90 and CR 13-8 had the highest height at 213.25 and 213 cm., respectively. Huay bung 90 did not branch. On the contrary, line CR13-8 and CR52A-4 developed a branching stem. Line CR13-8 was the highest 1st branching stem (124.25 centimeters).
