Agronomic Trait Evaluation of Three Sesame Varieties
Abstract
Grain Yield is not only the important factor for sesame cultivar utilization, but agronomic traits of cultivars are also crucial. The objective of this study was to evaluate agronomic traits of three sesame cultivars, including black sesame (KU 18 and KU 21) and white sesame (Kaosaraburi). The study was conducted at the experimental nursery, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Kasetsart University using RCBD (Randomized Complete Block Design) with three replications. The data collection were seedling vigor (score 1-5), days to 50% flowering, days to last flowering, days to 1st pod maturity, no. of node at 50% flowering, plant height at 50% flowering (cm), plant height at last flowering (cm), plant height at harvest (cm), height of 1st branch (cm), height of 1st pod (cm), height of last pod (cm), no. of node at 1st and last pod, no. of primary branches and 100-seed weight (g). The results showed that the stem of Kaosaraburi, a local variety, was branches which is different from KU 18 and KU 21 (single stem).
