Abstract

Cannabis is a monoecious or dioecious plant, meaning it has separate male and female flowers in the same or different plant, respectively. It is highly heterozygous, which results in high segregation of traits even when grown from seeds of the same parent plant. The objective of this study was to compare the segregation of varieties of 19 varieties grown from seeds purchased from a company with permits. The experiments were conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD), with each variety consisting of 10 plants grown from seeds in a controlled environment at a temperature of 25-28 °C. The light intensity was set at 150-200 µmol m-2 s-1 during the seedling stage and 400-600 µmol m-2 s-1 during the vegetative growth stage. The humidity was maintained at 60% for one month. The collected morphological data included petiole length, leaflet length, leaflet width, petiole color, leaf greenness index, and dry weight of inflorescences. Cluster analysis was performed on the collected data, revealing that varieties CB03 and CB08 showed the least segregation. This suggests that these two varieties may possess a higher degree of genetic stability, possibly indicating a higher level of homozygosity. Therefore, the use of cross-pollinated seeds in Cannabis cultivation should be done with caution as plants derived from different seeds will have different genotypes. It also provides an opportunity for line selection through seed cultivation.
