Abstract

The Khao Dawk Mali 105 rice variety is a high-quality rice with a soft texture and fragrant aroma. The Department of Agronomy has developed Khao Dawk Mali 105 with blast disease resistant; however, information on its salt tolerance remains limited. Therefore, the objective of this was to evaluate the salt tolerance potential of Khao Dawk Mali 105 with blast disease resistant The experiment was divided into three parts: seed germination testing, growth evaluation, and aroma assessment. The results indicated that salinity levels of 3% and above began to affect plant growth, while at a salinity level of 6%, rice plants died after 34 days of cultivation. In the aroma assessment, rice grown in Surin and Nakhon Ratchasima provinces exhibited similar fragrance profiles, which were distinguishable from non-fragrant rice. Moreover, the aroma of rice from Surin was relatively consistent, whereas the aroma of rice from Nakhon Ratchasima showed variability. The data obtained from this experiment will be used to select suitable areas for cultivating this rice variety.
