Abstract

Evaluation of sweet corn seed between storage important for management seed warehouse. Objective to study fast ethanol assay measurement technique. Which is a method for evaluating seed vigour convenient and fast. Bring the 2 sweet corn seeds to accelerated aging test at 52.5 °C for 24 and 48 hour. (use seeds that do not accelerate aging as a control). Take seeds to be measured by ethanol breath analyser at 60 °C for 90 minutes (adjust seed moisture content about 30 %). Compare results with germination test. Found that the fast ethanol assay can classify the vigour sweet corn seed. By seed accelerate aging 48 hour (2 sweet corn). Have the highest amount of ethanol produced seed do not accelerate aging and accelerate aging 24 hour. The result is consistent with the germination vigour and germination in greenhouse. Seeds that have accelerate aging have higher ethanol content but germination and reduced strength. In summary fast ethanol assay can classify the vigour sweet corn seeds to accelerate aging different duration.
