Effect of Potassium Fertilizer on Yield and Yield Components of Large-seeded Peanuts
Abstract
Potassium is the macronutrients necessary for the development of peanut yield. Therefore, this research aims to study the effects of applying potassium fertilizer application on the yield and yield components of large-seeded peanuts. The experiment was conducted at the Lopburi Research Station. Khok Charoen District, Lopburi Province in rainy season 2023. The experimental design used in this study was Factorial in RCBD with 4 replications. There were two factors studied, consisting of two peanut lines/varieties (KUP12BS067 and kasetsart50) and 3 rates of fertilizer ( N-P2O5 -K2O): 1) no apply fertilizer (control) 2) 3-3-6 kg. /Rai 3) 3-3-9 kg. /Rai, totally six treatment combination. The data were collected, including pod yield, harvest index, 100 seeds weight, shelling percentage, number of pods per plant, pod weight per plant, number of seed per of pod. The results of ANOVA showed that there were highly significant for pod yield the two factors. Fertilizing at rates of 3-3-6 (383.4 kg. /Rai) and 3-3-9 (380.1 kg. /Rai) gave higher pod yield than no fertilizer application (274.3 kg. /Rai). However, both fertilizers application gave no difference in pod yield. While the average pod yield of KUP12BS067 (385.9 kg. /Rai) is higher than that of Kasetsart50 (306 kg. /Rai). In the case of number of pods per plant and pods weight per plant, the results revealed that both fertilizer application is better than no fertilizer. Meanwhile, KUP12BS067 (0.437) had harvest index higher than Kasetsart50 (0.312). the overall results can be concluded that recommended fertilizer rate for farmers to produce of Large-seeded peanuts is 3-3-6 kg. /Rai.
