Abstract

Saline soil is an important problem affecting rice because it has too many dissolved salts in the soil until affecting the growth and yield of rice. Saline soil causes plants to become dehydrated, accumulation of toxic ions and nutrient imbalances. The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the tolerance of salinity in 17 rice varieties, PTT1, KDML105, Pokkali, IR64, CH1, SPR1, RD43, RD23, RD15, RD41, SPR60, CH2, CNT1, SKN1, RD6, JHN, and RD49. This experiment using Factorial Designs in CRD 3 replication when rice grown at 2 weeks, tested with low salinity stimulation at a concentration of 5 mM (pre-treatment). After that, when rice grown at 4 weeks, add salt concentration at 100 mM compared with non-pretreatment. Evaluated using the Standard evaluation system for rice (SES) of visual salt injury. The result showed that pre-treatment makes the rice more tolerant 7 varieties such as IR64, SPR1, RD43, RD41, SPR60, CNT1, and RD49 which tolerance level is 7 (susceptible) when compared with Pokkali which tolerance level is 9. Non-pretreatment by add concentration at 100 mM when rice 4 weeks showed that 17 rice varieties were susceptible and tolerance level is 9 (highly susceptible) when compared with Pokkali.
