Abstract

Seed deterioration was the major problem of the optimum quality of seed storage to reserve the rice plantation. This objective of this experiment was to study the effect of temperature and humidity to the potential of Pathum Thani 1 rice seed storage. The seed sample was used both of milled paddy rice seed and brown rice seed. This experiment was conduct based on the randomized complete block design (CRD) with 5 replications. Milled paddy rice seed with storage condition at 30 percent humidity as control (Ctrl) T1, brown rice seed with storage condition at 30 percent humidity as T2, brown rice seed with storage condition at 100 percent humidity as T3, milled paddy rice seed with storage condition at 30 percent humidity as T4 and scarified rice seed with storage condition at 100 percent humidity as T5. All of treatments storage at the room temperature The protocols for seed vigor evaluation were using the Radicle emergence test following the ISTA at 0, 5 and 10 months. The results showed the T1 had a potential then significantly greatest in both of germination percentage and seed vigor while germination percentage and seed vigor after storage at 0, 5 and 10 months were 99.5 percent, 98 percent, 98.25 percent, and 98 percent, respectively. Therefore, this experiment concluded that the storage of milled paddy rice seed at 30 percent humidity was had the greatest germination percentage and seed vigor.
