Evaluation of 8 Peanut Varieties for Grain Yield and Peanut Hay Production
Abstract
The objective of the present study was to evaluate peanut varieties on yield, yield components and nutritional value for grain production and peanut hay. The field experiment was conducted at Mahachai district, Kalasin province during 2018-2019. The experiment was arranged in RCBD with 2 replications. The treatments consisted of 8 peanut varieties; KUP11200-1, KUP11222-3, KUP13W027, KUP13W058 และ KUP13W060 comparing with Kasetsart KohKae 40, Khonkaen 5 and Tainan 9 as check varieties. Plant growth, yield, yield components and nutritional value of leaf and stem. The results showed that KUP13W060 had high pod yield, shelling percentage closed to check varieties (Kasetsart KohKae 40). In case of peanut hay for ruminant feed, all varieties had stem and leaf yield closed to check varieties. In case of nutritional value of stem, Tainan 9 had high NDF content whereas KUP13W058, Kasetsart KohKae 40 and Khonkaen 5 had low ash content. KUP13W027 had high NDF and low ash content in leaf, while Kasetsart KohKae 40 showed low ADF in leaf.
