Abstract

The experiment aimed to evaluate the effect of spacing and varieties on growth, seed yield and biomass yield of peanut for use as ruminant feed. The field experiment was conducted at Mahachai district, Kalasin province in 2019-2020. The experiment was arranged in a strip plot in RCBD with 4 repetitions. Main plot consisted of two plant spacings; narrow plant spacing (15x10 cm) and wide plant spacing (20x20 cm plant spacing). Sub plot consisted of 4 cultivars/varieties; 11200-1, KUP13W027, Tainan 9 and KK5 (control). The results showed that narrow plant spacing had taller plant height than narrow plant spacing, especially 11200-1. Tainan 9 and KK5 (as controls) had wider canopy width than 11200-1. However, peanut variety 11200-1 combination with narrow plant spacing showed higher fresh pod yield (343.50 kg/rai) than KUP13W027, KK5 and TN9 (165.52 128.74 and 110.35 kg/rai, respectively). Peanut variety 11200-1 combination with narrow plant spacing also was the highest fresh leaf yield (372.70 kg/rai). Moreover, peanut variety 11200-1 combination with narrow plant spacing showed the highest dry pod and seed yield (194.09 และ151.10 kg/rai, respectively).
